What should a bricklayer of the 5th category know. Grades of a bricklayer. Tariff scale and tariff coefficients in construction

Bricklayer - building worker who builds or repairs stone And brick structures; masonry specialist brick or stone.

The craft of a bricklayer is one of the oldest, since stone structures have existed since primitive times. The secrets of the professional skills of masons were often passed down from generation to generation.

Currently, the main activity of a bricklayer includes masonry from brick concrete blocks, cinder blocks, foam blocks, which, unlike other construction operations, is done manually. When laying walls, a bricklayer must withstand the required thickness and evenness of the seam, check that the horizontal and vertical rows comply with the design requirements, be able to build corners and bends of the wall from whole bricks (blocks), halves and quarters.

The bricklayer lays load-bearing walls, foundations, arches, vaults, columns, participates in the installation of window and door frames, caulks and fills joints in prefabricated reinforced concrete structures.

When laying walls, the bricklayer must maintain the required thickness and evenness of the seam, check the compliance of the horizontal and vertical rows with the design requirements, design the erection of corners and bends of the wall from whole, halves and quarters of bricks. The bricklayer can also participate in the repair: he fills the "voids" with new bricks, while observing the "seams" and "joint" of the old masonry.

Working conditions, tools. The bricklayer performs production operations with the help of hand tools: trowels, hammer-picks, bucket-shovels, jointing.

Trowel - a small (about 30 centimeters long) spatula with a curved handle. With a trowel, the worker levels the mortar on the wall, fills the vertical seams of the masonry with it and removes the excess that has come out on the front surface of the wall.

To get the necessary dressing of the seams, the bricklayer uses three-fours, halves and fours, cutting the brick with a pickaxe hammer. Depending on the architectural design, the seams in brickwork given a different form. Jointing is used for cutting seams. With a shovel, the bricklayer shovels the mortar in the box and delivers it to the wall, spreading it in an even layer for future brickwork.

A bricklayer can work both indoors and outdoors (perhaps at a height).

Harmful working conditions include: weather conditions (if the construction is carried out in the open air), noise, impact of the materials used.

Applications Possible places of work: construction, restoration of buildings, industrial premises, bridges.

Communication at work. Masons achieve high labor productivity only with coordinated work in a team and in pairs. As a rule, a bricklayer works together with an assistant worker with a lower qualification. The assistant must feel the rhythm and pace of the work of the lead bricklayer, without delay prepare the scope of work for him: spread the mortar, lay out the brick in the order in which the lead bricklayer will lay it.

Professional type - realistic. The dominant professional orientation is man-technology.

Dominant interests: construction, technology; related - woodworking, metalworking, physics, mathematics.

Required qualities: a well-developed eye when laying bricks, as it is done by eye, as well as when laying out overlaps, ledges, belts, etc. other operations are necessary in a limited period of time.

In the work of a bricklayer, the role of the actions of the hands is great. His activity consists of a series of strictly consistent techniques and movements. The work of both hands requires strength, dexterity, consistency and interchangeability. The specified thickness and evenness of the seam is achieved, firstly, by spreading the required amount of mortar, and secondly, by uniform compression of the mortar with a brick during its laying. The success of this operation depends both on the eye of the worker and on the development of muscular-articular sensations. It is necessary to subtly feel the uniformity of the pressure of the entire area of the brick on the mortar bed and dose the efforts.

Also, for planning and controlling all work as a whole, the worker needs: spatial imagination, technical thinking, steady attention, visual-figurative memory.

Medical restrictions: work is contraindicated for people suffering from diseases of the cardiovascular system, musculoskeletal system, neuropsychiatric disorders, having a predisposition to colds.

Related professions: plasterer, installer, concrete worker, fitter.

Prospects for professional growth and career: trainee - handyman - specialist bricklayer, leading specialist, foreman. With an additional increase in education (secondary or higher construction education) - foreman, construction engineer, architect.

It is possible to obtain a related profession directly at the workplace; qualifications can be improved in construction technical schools or institutes.

The profession is in demand on the labor market, the demand for it is stable.

The level of education is not lower than primary vocational.

In total, masons have 5 ranks

In modern construction, there are 6 categories of masons - starting from the 2nd, ending with the 6th. All of them differ in duties, wages, level of professionalism, quality, speed and complexity of the work performed.

Bricklayer of the second category, most often, he is an assistant, as a rule, brings bricks and supplies mortar to a more skilled bricklayer. A bricklayer of the second category can be entrusted with only the simplest stone work, where great precision is not required. Usually such masonry is the basement of the building. In order to get the 2nd category in stone work, you do not need to complete courses, college or school. It is enough just to appear at the construction site as part of a team of masons.

Bricklayer of the third category has somewhat greater opportunities at the workplace, but most often, like a bricklayer of the second category, he supplies bricks and mortar to senior workers in rank. Of the stone work entrusted to a third-class bricklayer, in addition to the plinth, simple walls or partitions should be singled out, where, again, very high accuracy of execution is not required. In rare cases, a third-class bricklayer may lay out interior walls. To get this category, it is enough to take short courses or practice at a college / school.

Bricklayer of the fourth category does not bring bricks and does not supply mortar. He lays out the inner and outer walls. In addition to high accuracy, it performs masonry and with sufficient high speed. The norm for the production of a bricklayer of the fourth category is 2 cubic meters of masonry per day. Despite the rather strict requirements for masons of this category, they earn very good money and are almost always provided with work. You can get the fourth category of a bricklayer in special courses after sufficient work experience.

Bricklayers of the fifth category in addition to laying internal and external walls, they can also perform complex partitions, piers, and corners, as well as bridges and bay windows. As well as the masons of the fourth category, they must do their work with great speed. The fifth category is awarded for a sufficiently large work experience and after passing a special exam.

Bricklayers of the sixth category quite few today. In many ways, the reason for this is that very serious work experience (minimum 5 years) is required to obtain this category. However, masons of this category can perform any stone work with great precision and speed. Bricklayers of the 6th category often lay out more than 5 cubic meters of masonry per day and receive more than 120 thousand rubles. The pay is worth the hassle.

According to GOST, the necessary Personal Protective Equipment

Combined mittens, Rubber boots, Polymer coated gloves, Leather boots with a hard toe or leather boots with a hard toe, Tarpaulin mittens, protective helmet.

In winter additionally: leather insulated boots, insulated balaclava under the helmet.
