The contract is signed on the one hand with a reserve serviceman (mandatory military service, the age limit is no more than 40 years, but there are exceptions for professionals with a specialty attractive to the army) and the commander of a military unit on the other hand.
Initially, contractors are accepted into the service with a 3-month probationary period. The first contract, as a rule, is concluded for a period of 3 years, regardless of the rank of a soldier: private, sergeant, or officer. If at the end of this period a person decides to continue serving in the Russian army, then the contract can be extended at the request of the serviceman for 1, 3, 5 or 10 years.
In Russia, these can be parts of the Ministry of Internal Affairs, the Ministry of Defense, border troops, and the FSB. Contract terms vary. You can become a member of the ground forces for up to 5 years, in units taking part in active hostilities - from 1 to 3 years.
Preferably, contracts are concluded with volunteers who have served in the army and have experience in military affairs: after all, there is a difference between a regular officer with special education and skills, and a conscript soldier (who, by the way, can write a report on the conclusion of a contract after 11 months of military service ).
Higher pay for the work of officers with special knowledge and experience. At present, in addition to Russians, citizens of other CIS states and neighboring countries also serve in the contract army of Russia. After 3 years of service, non-Russians acquire the opportunity in a simplified form to become a citizen of the Russian Federation.
